MILF, MNLF asked to blame PGMA
for profiling Mindanao as electoral cheating capital of RP
Leaders of the left-leaning fisherfolk alliance Pambansang Lakas ng Kilusang Mamamalakaya ng Pilipinas (Pamalakaya) on Wednesday urged the top leadership of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) to issue separate statements blaming President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for the systematic stereotyping of Muslim communities as election fraud centers across the country.
In a press statement, Pamalakaya national chair Fernando Hicap said top Muslim leaders of the two separatist groups should unite in assailing the election fraud machinery of the Macapagal-Arroyo administration for conducting their cheating activities in the island at the expense of the Moro people in the South.
“The MILF and the MNLF, together with other cause-oriented groups and decent thinking people in Mindanao should stand up and condemn the blatant display of political arrogance and mafia-like operations of President Arroyo’s ruling syndicate in the South,” Hicap said.
The Pamalakaya leader said the government was trying to provoke the Muslim communities in Mindanao to blame their ire against election watchdogs exposing the election crimes of Malacañang by pitting them against the Filipino public.
“Nobody is blaming the Moro people for the massive fraud in Mindanao. It is the government and the cheating apparatus of the Macapagal-Arroyo administration like the Comelec and the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the political warlords in the South who are being blamed for the electoral disaster in the South,” Hicap said.
The Pamalakaya leader added: “But the government and its spin doctors are misrepresenting this as an assault to the Moro people to agitate them against crusaders for honest, orderly and peaceful elections.”
To prove his assessment, the Pamalakaya leader quoted an MILF statement posted in its website claiming that a high ranking Palace official was moving heaven and earth to ensure the victory of outgoing Mayor Omar “Solitario” Ali as governor of Lanao del Sur. The government identified as Norberto Gomzales, national security adviser and chairman of Partido Demokratiko Sosyalista ng Pilipinas (PDSP).
“Mrs. Arroyo and her cheating party is the root of all evil and electoral chaos in Mindanao. The Moro people should confront and stop her from further destroying the political and cultural life of our Muslim population in the South,” Pamalakaya’s Hicap added.
“Massive fraud took place in Maguindanao and other areas of Mindanao. But the cheating spree was staged by Malacañang and their paid cohorts, and not by the Moro people who always put premium to their right to self-determination, genuine peace and social justice,” the fisherfolk leader added.
About 20,000 people, including barangay captains and local residents staged a protest outside the provincial capital of Shariff Aguak in Maguindanao province to correct allegations that no actual elections took place in Maguindanao, which early election results showed a 12-0 sweep for Team Unity.
“We ask our Moro brothers and sisters to focus their attack on President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and the incorrigible and fraud oriented Commission on Elections, the master cheats in the ongoing electoral fiasco in Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur and other provinces in Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao,” Pamalakaya said. #
